Thank you for visiting the Arizona State Cartographer's Office (SCO) web site and
reviewing our privacy policy. This disclosure addresses collection,
use and security of and access to information that may be obtained through the use of the
SCO web site. Your rights to privacy are of utmost importance to the State of Arizona in
building trust and confidence when conducting business through the Internet.
The Arizona State Cartographer's Office understands the importance of protecting the privacy
of the visitors to the SCO web site. SCO does not collect any personally identifying
information about you, such as your name, address or telephone number, unless you voluntarily
provide the information to the SCO. Information that does not personally identify visitors
to the SCO web site, such as the visitor’s Internet Provider ("IP") address, the date and time
of the visit, and the pages that the visitor accessed is collected by the Arizona Department of
Administration, which hosts the SCO web site, and is provided to SCO for statistical purposes.
No other entities or persons are collecting information from visitors to the SCO web site.
The SCO web site provides opportunities for visitors to the website to contact SCO by e-mail
or by online form provided on the SCO web site. When you choose to contact SCO in either
manner, you will need to include some contact information so that the Department may reply to
your inquiry. If you prefer not to contact SCO by e-mail or through the web site, you always
have the option of contacting SCO in-person or by telephone, courier or mail.
Online Customer Service and Alternatives
On our web site, SCO provides information that is frequently requested by the public and
other information that SCO recognizes is important to the public. Our goal is to provide the
public with a more convenient and efficient means with which to interact with the SCO.
Collection and Use of Information
Information Collected and Stored Automatically
The SCO web site does not use "cookies" to gather information during your visit.
Individual web sites you access through the this site may use "cookies," however, and are
required to define their use in the separate privacy policy located on the specific site.
The web server that hosts the SCO web site does gather certain information about the visit
automatically in a standard log file. This information never identifies you personally and
consists of only the following items:
- The Internet domain (for example, "sco.az.gov") from which you access the website;
- The IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access the website; and
- The date and time of your access.
We use this information to gather statistics about the amount of use the site receives.
Again, we do not automatically record information about you as an individual. This information
is not shared, sold, or otherwise disseminated by SCO.
Although the SCO web site does not currently use cookies, future releases may necessitate
their use along with other session enhancement methods. These will be thoroughly evaluated
in order to determine their benefit to both the client and the service provider before being
implemented. This privacy statement will also be updated to describe exactly what information
is being collected and how to disable or refuse cookies.
Information You Provide
Information collected from an application submitted online will be treated in the same manner
as the information collected from an application submitted on a hard copy to the applicable
State agency. The information you disclose to the agency (either through the SCO web site
or directly) will generally become a matter of public record pursuant to A. R. S. § 39-121,
et seq., which means that the agency may be required to divulge certain information in
response to a public records request or in response to a warrant, subpoena, or other court

Security
The State Land Department, under which SCO is housed, has taken several steps to safeguard
the integrity of its computer systems and networks. Including, but not limited to,
individual authentication, the security of transmitted data, security monitoring, auditing,
and encryption of your information. Security methods and measures have been integrated into
the design, implementation and day-to-day practices of the entire SCO web site.
